Ulceration of the lining of the cervix of the uterus. Caused by infection and discharge, it heals once these are cured. It may precede cervical cancer. Erosions tend to occur in the years of menstruation, in mothers, and during cervical or vaginal infections. Cancerous erosions are removed surgically, which does not cause infertility.
